Unable to sync NTP however not able to install Chrony, here’s a work around:

Okay, so if you in a situation in which ntp is not synced and have already tried the following:

sudo service ntpd stop

sudo ntpdate -s <*.*.org>  PLEASE NOTE, you will find the origin in the ntp.conf file.

sudo service ntpd start

After doing the above, and waiting a few intervals and still the time is out of sync, you can run the following command which should resolve the issue:

date ; sudo service ntpd stop ; sudo ntpdate -s 169.254.169.123 ; date ; sudo service ntpd start ; date

What we doing in the above command is using the chrony IP(169.254.169.123) without having chrony installed.

Works like a charm..!!!
