EC2 failing “[WARNING]: Calling ‘http://169.254.169.254/2009-04-04/meta-data/instance-id’ failed”

ERROR:

The above error points to a networking issue and can easily be replicated by editing the following files:

 /etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0.cfg -- Comment out eth0
 /etc/network/interfaces  -- Edit the path to eth0.cfg 

So if you are experiencing the above issue, I would recommend having a look at the above files first.
